ClickUp lets you create an OAuth app directly in your workspace settings, with no vendor approval needed. Credentials are available immediately.
Before you start
You'll need:
Workspace Owner or Admin in ClickUp — only owners and admins can create OAuth apps
Owner or Admin access to your Caddi organization
Step 1: Create the app in ClickUp
ClickUp warns that non-SSL redirect URIs may stop being supported. Caddi's callback is HTTPS, so nothing to do here.
Sign in to ClickUp and click your avatar in the upper-right corner.
Select Settings, then click Apps in the sidebar.
Click Create new app.
App Name —
CaddiRedirect URL — enter
https://app.trycaddi.com/oauth-callback.Create the app. The Client ID and Client Secret appear on the app's row in the Apps list.
Step 2: Configure ClickUp in Caddi
This step must be completed by a Caddi organization owner or admin.
In Caddi, open Integrations in the left sidebar, then click the Integration Setup tab at the top of the page. This tab is only visible to organization owners and admins.
Find ClickUp in the list and click Configure.
Enter the following values:
Client ID — from the app in ClickUp Settings → Apps
Client Secret — the Secret value from the same app
Click Save Configuration. Caddi validates the credentials immediately — if something is wrong you'll see an error right away, and nothing is stored until validation passes.
Step 3: Connect your account
Go back to the My Connections tab and find ClickUp.
Click Connect + and sign in to ClickUp.
Select the workspaces you want Caddi to access. ClickUp authorization is per-workspace, so only the ones you tick here will be reachable.
Approve the request. You'll be returned to Caddi with the connection active.
How the connection behaves
ClickUp has no scope system. A token grants whatever the authorizing user can do in the workspaces they selected. To narrow Caddi's reach, narrow that user's ClickUp permissions or connect a more limited account.
Authorization is per-workspace. If a loop can't find a Space or List, the most likely reason is that its workspace wasn't selected at connect time. Reconnect and tick it.
Access tokens currently do not expire and there is no refresh token. ClickUp notes this is subject to change, so a reconnect prompt in future wouldn't be unexpected.
A custom connection replaces the standard one. Members of your organization will only see the option to connect through your app.
Rate limits depend on your plan — roughly 100 requests per minute on Free, Unlimited, and Business; 1,000 on Business Plus; 10,000 on Enterprise.
Revoking access. Delete the app in ClickUp Settings → Apps.
Troubleshooting
The Apps option isn't in ClickUp Settings
Only Workspace Owners and Admins can create OAuth apps. Ask a workspace owner to create it.
A loop can't find a Space, Folder, or List that exists
Its workspace wasn't selected during authorization. Disconnect, reconnect, and tick that workspace.
A redirect error when connecting
The Redirect URL on the ClickUp app doesn't match https://app.trycaddi.com/oauth-callback. Edit it in Settings → Apps.
Rate-limit errors on a Free or Business plan
You're hitting the 100-per-minute ceiling. Reduce loop frequency or narrow its scope.
Still stuck? Contact Caddi support with the exact error message you're seeing and the time it occurred.
Automation ideas
Law Firms
New matter → task structure
Caddi builds the matter's ClickUp task hierarchy from your template, assigns owners, and sets dates from the matter's deadlines.
Task complete → matter and time record
Caddi logs completed ClickUp work against the matter and drafts the corresponding time entry.
RIAs
Client request → tracked work item
Caddi turns inbound client requests into ClickUp tasks with the right owner and due date, and closes the loop when they're done.
