Datadog connects to Caddi with two keys from your Datadog Organization Settings: an API key and an application key. You also pick the Datadog site your account is hosted on.
Before you start
You'll need:
A Datadog account with permission to create application keys
Owner or Admin access to your Caddi organization
Caddi acts with the permissions of the Datadog user who creates the application key. If you add scopes to the key, Caddi is limited to those scopes. If you add no scopes, the key has all of that user's permissions.
Step 1: Find your Datadog site
Sign in to Datadog.
Look at the address in your browser to find your site:
app.datadoghq.com is datadoghq.com (US1)
us3.datadoghq.com is us3.datadoghq.com (US3)
us5.datadoghq.com is us5.datadoghq.com (US5)
app.datadoghq.eu is datadoghq.eu (EU1)
ap1.datadoghq.com is ap1.datadoghq.com (AP1)
app.ddog-gov.com is ddog-gov.com (US1-FED)
If your company uses a custom Datadog address, click your profile avatar in the lower-left corner and select My Preferences. Your site is listed at the top of the page.
Step 2: Create an API key
In Datadog, go to Organization Settings, then click the API Keys tab.
Click New Key.
Enter a name, such as Caddi, and click Create API key.
Copy the key.
Step 3: Create an application key
In Datadog, go to Organization Settings, then Application Keys.
Click New Key.
Enter a name, such as Caddi, and create the key.
Copy the key right away. Depending on your Datadog site and settings, Datadog may not show it again.
Do not send these keys by email, chat, or a support ticket. Paste them straight into Caddi in Step 4, or keep them in a password manager until you do.
Step 4: Add the keys in Caddi
In Caddi, open Settings, then Integrations.
Under Connectors you can configure, find Datadog - Custom API Key and click Configure.
Paste the API key from Step 2 into API Key.
Paste the application key from Step 3 into Application Key.
In Site, choose the site you found in Step 1. Leave it as datadoghq.com if your account is on US1.
Click Save Configuration.
