The Caddi Recorder is a Chrome extension. You use it to record yourself doing a process once, so Caddi can turn that recording into a Loop.
What you need
Google Chrome, version 116 or later. If you start a recording from Caddi in another browser, Caddi shows a message that the recorder is required and that it is Chrome only.
A Caddi account. You sign in to the extension with the same account you use at app.trycaddi.com.
Step 1: Install from the Chrome Web Store
1. Open the listing: Caddi Recorder on the Chrome Web Store.
2. Click Add to Chrome, then confirm with Add extension.
The extension is published as Caddi Recorder.
Step 2: Walk through the setup tour
Chrome opens a Caddi setup tab automatically the first time the extension installs. It covers five things in order:
Pin the extension so the Caddi icon is always visible.
Enable your microphone. Click Allow Microphone Access. This is optional — you can skip it and record without audio — but narrating what you are doing gives Caddi far more to work with.
Start and stop recording from the extension icon.
Stay in the browser. Caddi records what happens in Chrome.
Plugin limitations. Record in the application itself, not through a plugin.
You can skip the tour and come back to the steps below at any time.
Step 3: Pin the extension
1. Click the puzzle-piece Extensions icon to the right of the Chrome address bar.
2. Find Caddi Recorder in the list.
3. Click the pin icon next to it.
Step 4: Sign in
1. Click the Caddi icon in your Chrome toolbar.
2. Click Login.
3. Complete sign-in in the window Chrome opens, using your Caddi account.
After you sign in, the extension shows the recorder controls and you are ready to record.
What the recorder captures
Browser only. If you switch to a desktop application mid-recording, Caddi shows a warning and stops capturing until you return to Chrome.
Plugins and add-ins. Record in the application itself rather than through a plugin or add-in. For a Salesforce process you reach through the Outlook add-in, open Salesforce directly and record there.
How long a recording can run
At 18 minutes you get an advisory notice suggesting you wrap up.
At 55 minutes you get a five-minute warning.
At 1 hour the recording stops automatically. This is a hard cap.
Shorter recordings are better. If a process runs longer than that, record it in pieces.
If Caddi says the recorder is missing or out of date
When you start a recording from Caddi, it checks that the extension is installed and recent enough. Two messages can appear:
"You need the Caddi recorder (Chrome only) to record this walkthrough." The extension is not installed in this browser, or you are not in Chrome. Install it from the link in Step 1.
"Your Caddi recorder is out of date — update it to record." Go to
chrome://extensions, turn on Developer mode, and click Update. Chrome normally updates Web Store extensions on its own within a few hours.
Both messages appear with an Install the Caddi recorder link and a Try again button, so you can fix it and resume without losing your place.
How to remove the extension
1. Right-click the Caddi icon in your Chrome toolbar.
2. Click Remove from Chrome, then confirm.
Confirm that your recordings have finished uploading before you remove the extension.
