PagerDuty Setup

Connecting PagerDuty to Caddi with a custom OAuth app

PagerDuty connects to Caddi through an OAuth app that you register in your PagerDuty account. You copy the app's Client ID and Client Secret into Caddi.

Before you start

You'll need:

  • A PagerDuty user with a base role of Manager, Global Admin, or Account Owner. PagerDuty only shows App Registration to these roles.

  • Owner or Admin access to your Caddi organization

Step 1: Copy the redirect URL from Caddi

  1. In Caddi, open Settings, then Integrations.

  2. Under Connectors you can configure, find PagerDuty - Custom OAuth App and click Configure.

  3. Click Copy redirect URL. It is https://app.trycaddi.com/oauth-callback. Keep this tab open; you'll come back to it in Step 3.

Step 2: Register the app in PagerDuty

  1. Sign in to PagerDuty.

  2. In the menu, select Integrations, then Developer Tools, then App Registration. This opens My Apps.

  3. Click New App. On Add New App, enter a name (for example Caddi) and a description, leave OAuth 2.0 unchecked, and click Register App.

  4. Under My Apps, select the app to open its Edit App page.

  5. In the Functionality section, click Add on the OAuth 2.0 card.

  6. On the Configure OAuth 2.0 screen, choose Classic User OAuth.

  7. Add the redirect URL you copied in Step 1: https://app.trycaddi.com/oauth-callback.

  8. Choose the read and write permission scope (write). This is the scope Caddi uses.

  9. Save the OAuth settings. PagerDuty then shows the app's Client ID and Client Secret. Copy both.

Do not send this secret by email, chat, or a support ticket. Paste it straight into Caddi in Step 3, or keep it in a password manager until you do.

Step 3: Add the credentials in Caddi

  1. Go back to the PagerDuty - Custom OAuth App configuration form in Caddi (Settings, then Integrations, then Configure).

  2. Paste the Client ID into Client ID.

  3. Paste the Client Secret into Client Secret.

  4. Leave Scopes blank to use Caddi's default scopes.

  5. Click Save Configuration.

Step 4: Confirm the connection

  1. In Caddi, open Integrations in the left sidebar.

  2. Find PagerDuty - Custom OAuth App and click Connect.

  3. Sign in to PagerDuty and approve the request. You'll be returned to Caddi with the connection active.

If you're not going to be an everyday user of Caddi, you can disconnect after confirming the connection works.
